Connemara Greenway

Greenway

Ireland's longest cycle and walking route between Clifden and Galway City. The 76km long Connemara Greenway connects the alpine-like town of Clifden, Connemara to the bustling city of Galway, travelling on the old railway line which closed in 1935. When completed the Connemara Greenway will be the longest off-road walking and cycling trail in Ireland with a multitude of activities, places to stay and warm welcomes on your journey. The Connemara Greenway will be a traffic free cycling and walking trail.

Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Clifden, Connemara is uniquely situated at the start of the Greenway at Ardbear Bridge Waterfall.  Cross over the bridge and onto the Dooneen Road at the edge of Clifden town. This very enjoyable walk, offers views of The Twelve Bens, Salt Lake, Errisbeg Hill and the Roundstone Bog complex.
